Welcome to the Division of General Internal Medicine, a dynamic group of 40 faculty members dedicated to excellence in clinical care, medical education, and research.
Our faculty members are consistently recognized as among the very best clinicians and educators in the College of Medicine as evidenced by numerous leadership positions and awards for teaching medical students and house staff.
We provide personalized, comprehensive primary care services for adult residents of North Central Florida. Our areas of expertise include prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. Our clinics offer immunizations, osteoporosis screening, cholesterol and glucose testing and pre-surgical consultation. We strongly emphasize evidence-based practice, disease prevention and health promotion.
Our research activities have resulted in multiple publications, grants awards and presentations at the regional, national and international level. Many research initiatives are the product of growing collaborative efforts with faculty in other Divisions, Departments and Colleges at UF.

What is an Internist?
An internist is a physician dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common and complex health concerns that afflict adult patients. Doctors of internal medicine treat the whole body of the patient and are often called upon to manage multiple medical conditions simultaneously. UF internists partner with sub-specialist physicians to solve uncommon, rare or particularly severe medical problems and to develop individual risk profiles for possible future illness.
UF Internists Provide a Lifetime of Care
In today’s complex medical environment, UF internists take pride in caring for patients for life — during office visits, as well as complex hospitalizations. When other medical specialists are involved, UF internists coordinate and help prioritize and manage difficult medical problems.
